I got a most interesting phone call at 5 AM...
My house phone rings awakening me. I look at my clock, it's 5 AM. I wonder who on earth is calling me - perhaps it's a family member in trouble, so I answer.
"Hello, this is Tamika from Geico Insurance."
Well - after asking her if she knew what time it was - she told me that I "was on the list of tow companies for a winch out".
Interesting!
The first week I got my new phone number (months ago) I realized that it was formerly owned by an auto repair shop. I've received numerous calls for tows, tires, and oil changes. But this is the first one I've had at 5 AM.
So - I did what any logical person would do - and told them I'd be there in 20 minutes. I think they got the hint I'm not coming
[Just kidding on telling them I'd be there - that wouldn't be very nice - but I've thought about it ]

Sounds like it's time for another number change? I'd do a LOT of yelling if someone woke me up at 5am, then again, I'm usually up @ 5am.

Nah - it's a VERY good/memorable # - and the calls don't happen often, so it's not a big deal.

Sort of like a bricks and mortar affiliate program
Keep the number, see which tow company will pay the most to have it call forwarded to their dispatch number
Get a new personal number for normal use, and call forward the other number for profit.

I would be pretty angry if I was the one who needed the tow, but that is pretty funny Nick.

Heh, reminds me of a couple of years ago when I had a toll free number that I eventually was forced to change. Dyslexic Amp'd Mobile customers would misdial the customer service number and call me instead. Up to 10-20 calls a day. At all hours of day and night.
