At this point, I am not sure what you are doing is legal.

She wasn't saying linux itself was illegal, but she wasn't sure what he was doing (distributing copies of it) was.
I'm not saying that she was right or wrong here, because she was clearly brainwashed by the M$ camp years ago, but if the guy was distributing, say RHEL, then that would have been a correct statement, as RHEL is paid software (as are a few others).
The teacher's overall attitude re: Linux vs Windows is quite antequated, however, and she definitely deserves a re-education, as do most people who are M$ fanatics, such as this woman.
All in all, I did find the article amusing. If it's true, this is just more proof of microsoft FUD, trying to get people to believe in their lies.
My favorite part?

No software is free and spreading that misconception is harmful.

Damn, I guess php, apache, mysql,CentOS,all free are just spreading a 'misconception'. Funny stuff there!

Not fan of Linux, but that's ridiculous.
Wait...are they planning to get some prize for the best joke of the century?

I think it's satirical humour. Having said that, the idiocy of some people is infinite, so maybe not.

Ok, i agree that distributing illegal versions of it is wrong, very wrong but it did seem funny at the begining.

No, it's still free. You just have to pay for a support subscription to get access to it (usually)

That can't be real.... like others have said, maybe it's tongue-in-cheek?
