I need a new my.cnf and httpd.conf

I recently upgraded to 1GB RAM from 512MB and need some help with setting up the httpd.conf and my.cnf.
I run one Invision Board 2.x forum and some medium PHP/MySQL powered sites.
I also upgraded to PHP5 and MySQL5 from version 4. I'm also running Apache 2.2.
Anyway, here's my old my.cnf and the top half of my old httpd.conf.
Code:
my.cnf
[mysqld]
port = 3306
socket = /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
max_connections = 50
key_buffer = 32M
myisam_sort_buffer_size = 32M
join_buffer_size = 1M
read_buffer_size = 1M
sort_buffer_size = 2M
table_cache = 1024
thread_cache_size = 286
interactive_timeout = 25
wait_timeout = 15
connect_timeout = 10
max_allowed_packet = 8M
max_connect_errors = 10
query_cache_limit = 1M
query_cache_size = 16M
query_cache_type = 1
tmp_table_size = 32M
long_query_time = 5
log-slow-queries = /var/log/mysql/mysql-slow.log
log-queries-not-using-indexes
skip-innodb

[mysqld_safe]
open_files_limit = 8192

[mysqldump]
quick
max_allowed_packet = 8M

[myisamchk]
key_buffer = 16M
sort_buffer = 32M
read_buffer = 8M
write_buffer = 8M

Code:
httpd.conf
Timeout 35
KeepAlive On
MaxKeepAliveRequests 120
KeepAliveTimeout 3
MinSpareServers 2
MaxSpareServers 5
StartServers 3
MaxClients 150
MaxRequestsPerChild 30
Thanks!

There really is no magical combination that will increase performance to a noticeable degree for any particular setup. It depends on your usage levels, what else is running, etc. 512MB to 1GB is not a big increase. It would help to know your other details such as CPU and disks. Installing an PHP accelerator or caching app such as Xcache may do more for you than tweaking MySQL and Apache.

Well I was running eaccelerator but have now switched to xcache to try it out. I'm not saying that the 512MB wasn't doing fine but I just need a new configuration to account for the extra RAM.
Would using my old settings "waste" the extra RAM?
re: It would help to know your other details such as CPU and disks.
I'm on a VPS but I believe there are 8 dual core CPUS (running at 2Ghz+ each). Not sure on what the disk types are though.
Thanks!
