Game Server Question
Hello, I recently bought a " Full Server " managed package from TheServerDoctor.
Anyways, thats not the problem. I am building this new server, as soon as it gets to me. Im going to install Win2k3 on it. Jeff *The Server Doctor* says Plesk the control panel im going to be using will not be compatible with a game panel?
Like basicly, what he told me was that, the Game Panel takes over the entire server and Plesk wont function right?
I don't really have a clue what he was talking about, becuase he doesn't sound exactly professional to me. But, he knows more about servers than I do so thats what I pay him for.
So my question is, is this true? I asked somebody in a IRC chat that was hosted by gamepanel or something like that not 100% sure and they said it should work. So im asking you guys *the professionals* if this is true or not?

Generally, you would not want to have more than one control panel on your server, as they might not coexist well together. cPanel, which is only available on Linux right now has this thing called cPGS which is a module inside cPanel that helps you administrate game servers easily.

If this is for game servers and you're using Windows I would recommend using TCAdmin -- it's pretty much the de facto standard for game hosting on Windows. Also, I wouldn't recommend running cPanel or any other web hosting control panel if you do choose TCAdmin. (generally because you shouldn't be doing web hosting and game servers off the same server for performance reasons)

unless that server is only used as a master server, seperate from the actual game server machine. There shouldnt be any problems at all running plesk or cpanel in addition to tcadmin or gamecp, but i wouldnt run any of them on the actual game server machines

I recommend if possible to run game servers on linux you will find performance to be better IMO.
If you need a game panel try gamecp.

My company uses WHCMs and Tcadmin, so far it works great for game hosting, I see no need for an extra control panel when you have RDP and Tcadmin.
