How can I recover a domain?
I have a domain that I registered through a reseller webhosting company (it's the one named in my signature).
Unfortunately, the server we were using was reclaimed and reformatted for non-payment, and after that, I could not contact the other owners to find out what was going on.
The only contact I had with them was via e-mail and live messenger, and they have not been online for a long time, and all their e-mail addresses are no longer valid.
I am currently trying to regain control over the domain, but I have contacted the registrar (resellerclub/directi) who said I would need to contact WHMCS as it was a subreseller account through them.
I opened a support ticket with WHMCS to find out about getting the domain transferred to my own ENOM account, but was told that only the owners of the account used to register it could provide me with the EPP code needed to transfer it.
I know there is a way to recover domains if the company that originally registered it for a customer has gone AWOL, but I cannot find who I would need to contact to get this process started for .org domains.
Would anyone happen to know who I would need to contact to at least start getting this matter resolved?

But as far as I know it is possible to renew a domain even if you are not a domain owner! So just ask the registrar to renew the domain first and resolve this question with hosting company then! Otherwise you can lose the domain!

Regarding renewing the domain, that isn't needed until may next year so it isn't a concern at the moment.
I've told both whmcs and resellerclub that i'm not happy with being pushed between both of them with seemingly no resolution to the matter, as i've unfortunately lost enough money already as a result of the other owners doing a runner.
Resellerclub have now told me that are passing the issue to their client services team to find out what to do in a case like this.
Luckily, my details do appear on the whois record for the domain, so that may work in my favour for getting the domain back under my control.
Thankyou for the replies.

As long as you are the registered owner of the domain and can prove so with ID, then the registrar (Resellerclub?) will get back to you with a solution.
So don't panick, just wait for the registrar to sort you out.
You could also call them tommorow, monday morning.

Thanks for the help and replies. 48 hours has now passed, and they have not heard from the original reseller, and so they are going to give me control of the domain again, once I send them copies of my ID to prove that I am the domain owner.

They should give you control straight away if you perchased the domain .
I wouldnt register anymore domains with the company in question.

If they did just give me control straight away, while that would be quicker than me having to send scans of my ID to them along with a signed form, I would not be happy, as I do not have my details hidden in the whois database, so anyone could get my details and claim to be me to get control of it.
It's better to confirm 100% that I am the domain owner, rather than someone claiming to be me getting control of my domain, and causing lots of trouble for me.

Craig, RC / PDR (their customer face) will create an account for the domain. DO not ask for the EPP code yet, get them to create a reseller account for you (or create one yourself) get them to stuff it into that account so you can then get control of DNS. You can then get the domain back up and running quicker than waiting for 5 days transfer.
If you have any issues, you can drop me a line, and i'll work on a different approach for you to get up and running quicker

better way is to contact directi and tell them about the case. Also, renew the domain, they process such requests.
And also ask them, if the reseller was direct or Sub reseller. In this case the actual reseller can help you.
And, you should get an email with username and other stuff to your domain registrant email. Also, there is a userinterface for all resellers on Directi's site. You need to know their ResellerID.
