    Apache problem

This server is using Redhat 7.3 and Apache 1.3.26 with server-status module installed. Plesk 2.5 is installed as the control panel.

I'm wondering why Apache seems to be restarted so often (once or twice a day) by itself. I know this from the "server uptime" field in the Apache server-status page.

Is this normal? What might have caused this?

The server is in low usage and there's no user having SSH access that can restart Apache without my permission.

    Thanks in advance!

Are changes being made to accounts prior to the restart? If I am not mistaken creating accounts etc causes a restart.

yes any changes like adding a new domain etc.. updates the httpd.conf and that in turn restarts apache itself to reload the new settings.

    its normal

Even changes that you personally dont make (such as a user adding a subdomain) will give Apache a restart. Don't worry about it

Ah, I think you're right about that. I remember adding a new account before Apache restarted. Sorry for the stupid question

Not stupid at all--I'm sure alot of people reading this don't know that apache restarts (kinda like a windows box) when you load new domains.
