osCommerce is a very good script, I don't understand what problems you are having with that script, maybe the config is wrong.....
Try using their help forums, post in this forum and there is one more forum who is very good to help web designers, that is http://www.wdforums.com

I've used the script before, I personally don't really like it.
IMO, it's bloatware.... It's a beast to set-up and get running and for almost 50% of the store settings that run on the web it's way to big...
Too many options, too many configurations...
Installation was my biggest hassle when I try to get it running.

I used to get same problems with these kinda scripts too and what I start doing was, open the help/read me/install file and start following every single step they tell us to, and I find it very useful.
One more good thing to do before installing something that big, you should check out their support forums, help FAQs and other related sections so you can find out about known bug, problems and possible fixes for the problem.

In order for us to help you we need more info about your specific problems you have. Saying problems with Application_top and can't enter Admin area is not enough to help you. Sorry

if you've installed it already - even if it's not working correctly, post a URL to it. Most often oscommerce suffers the same install issues so those of us who've used it before can generally spot the mistake.
