Ping Test on a VPN

Hello All,
Will a ping test give better responce on a VPN tunnel?
Does it reduce the hops?

The routers/hops between you and the vpn server will be masked from you so you won't see them when using the VPN. However, the packets are still having to travel that way so the ping time won't be reduced.
If anything it could be increased a little due to the encryption.

No. In almost all cases, it will slow down the ping times and increase hops. Your packets still have to get to the VPN endpoint before it goes to the public internet.
