Hi, i was planning to renting a dedicated and making a few game servers for counter-strike 1.6 for personal enjoyment. Can someone tell me how much resources it would take for these servers?
24 slot normal gameplay server with little addons
22 slot deathmatch
20 slot gungame
20 slot zombie mod
How do we make a server boosted or make a server have 512 FPS or 100 fps? I was also wondering if an AMD dual core 2.2 ghz server with 4 gb of ram and 500 gbs of hard drive space would be enough to host these 4 servers with no lag. If not, can you tell me what would be good?

Hello 7773737,
Depending on the amount of players you plan on having on those servers at all times. I would suggest ideally going with a quad core set up with a minimum of 2GB RAM. With the FPS Boosting question, you would need a realtime kernel. You can get one of these by running Ubuntu on your dedicated box and typing an apt-get install command. I'll get you the package name in a minute or if another member posts with the answer.
If you need any help with anything don't hesitate to PM me

Making servers boosted depends on what OS you're using. If Linux, you can do it right in the kernel, there's ample documentation on doing so. If you're using Windows, you'd need to run some sort of multi-media timer.
A dual core server with 4GB of memory will run those servers without issue, but anything past that might pose some problems. If you're not on too tight of a budget, it may be worth the extra money to up it to a quad-core, which leaves room for expansion should your gaming community expand.

I would also like to add that 4 of those servers on a Dual Core machine would totally depend on the tickrate at which you are running the individual game servers at too. 33 tick would be no problem at all but if you were to start running them at 66 tick and they were all full at the same time (the same applies to 100tick) the tick rate would drop (in the netgraph).
If I may, another point to note down is that the game times you are wanting to run dont always run smoothly at 100 tick anyway. So take into consideration the mods / plugins you will be running as these can greatly affect the performance of a server.
Again if you have any problems, I'm available

What if i wanted 512 FPS on all the servers? Im fine with hosting 3 servers like 32 slot normal gameplay, 24 slot deathmatch and 24 slot custom maps.

Those three servers at 500FPS will be fine. Best way to find out what the box can do is get it and play around

Gungame, Deathmatch both use extraordinary amounts of CPU.
Zombiemod, I'm sure that's source only, also kills CPU.
You'd be lucky to host *one* of the above @ around 24 slots on a dual core.

Is it possible to host one 500 FPS 32 slot server with no lag at all? Is there a guide on how to boost your server and make it 500 fps?

A decent dual core could run them without issues if I'm honest. Good luck though its hard getting servers full these days!
