    Hello there,
I've been a loyal costumer from PowerVPS from 5 years now and I decided to buy a non-so-expensive Windows VPS to test something out. It work, I tested... and regret it.
With a google search I came across SwVPS.com, a provider who is giving for less than 20$, 700MB of RAM, and 250gb bw. I need JUST that.
I sign up, and the process took around 24 hours, maybe a bit less.
    * The first day all go well.
    * On the second day or third, can't remember, the VPS was down for 30 minutes. I e-mail support because I was working with it when it went down, and I got a response 3 hours later saying that "ip -X- was online and accepting connections". Evasive response from a "vps is down" ticket, don't you thing?
    * I then try to call then. Answering machine. I didnt get a real person to speack with me, even the website is saying that they offer 24/7 support.
    * Yesterday I saw that what they offer on the website wasn't what I was getting for, and decide to send a ticket and quoting they TOS on the part it says "Swvps.com may provide a full refund to customers within the first 15 days of use if Swvps.com fail to provide services as described on the Swvps.com website". I use the cancellation form and request it to be deleted immediately.
    * I got a response 1 hour ago with just this sentence: Your order will be canceled on 2008-12-01 as requested.. I did request it to be canceled NOW, not on 2008-12-01.
    * Then I e-mail then back. I got a bounced e-mail and I realise that my account on the support system was blocked/deleted.
So, this is my story. A one job man not giving refunds for a bad and very poor service.
It gets worse: Check the whois of the domain swvps.com and try to call the number. The number is INVALID.
How can I make business with someone that remove my support rights to talk to the company, dont have a valid telephone number on the whois database (at this moment the phone is +18669067963, in case they change it)?
I can't. And I just e-mail PayPal. I may not get a refund back, but I will at least set am "info" on the paypal account of the owner for future incidents like this.
    Shame on SwVPS.
    My IP was: 66.197.176.170
Oh, and sorry for my bad english. :-P

Some times there will be a hit and miss mate. This time you have missed the target of getting good service. Better luck next time. And I can see that you are a real satisfied customer with PowerVPS for long 5 years. That is a great hit and its bang on the target. That is the nature of hosting industry sometimes you may be disappointed with your decisions. I wish you will be able to get your money back.

    Hi all,

I have problem with swvps every month. This morning again, it's down and they send me an email to explain they need maintenance. As a FX trader we don't need VPS maintenance on Fri morning (GMT). I intend to change another VPS at the end of this month.

Here is the email they sent me 5 hours ago but till now I can not logon my VPS:

subject Emergency Network Maintenance at 23:00 on 24/09/2009
    mailed-by server.swvps.co.uk

hide details 2:50 AM (5 hours ago)

This message is being sent to all Swvps.com subscribers.

The maintenance scheduled is for UK located Servers only. That is IPs
    starting with 95.154.* or 78.129.*

We need to perform some emergency network maintenance as soon as
possible. This has been scheduled for tonight, which we appreciate is
very short notice. We need to reboot a router to install new software,
and this reboot will take up to 45 minutes. We will do everything we
can to speed up the process as much as we can and reduce the
    maintenance time.

    Date: 24/09/2009
    Window: 23:00 for 2 hours
    Duration: < 45 minutes.

The maintenance is to perform an emergency upgrade of Cisco software.
We are using a Cisco VSS-1440 as part of our network core, and we have
been experiencing some reduced performance with it today. There is no
cause within our network configuration and set up of this, and it
started to have a detrimental effect on some clients today. We
escalated this to the Cisco TAC team, who have diagnosed a fault with
the software on the router in the form of a memory leak. Cisco has
supplied us with a new version of the software for the router which
will fix the memory leak and slow performance.

The nature of this problem is that it will escalate as time goes on,
which is why we want to apply the fix as soon as core business hours
finish today. Please accept our apologies for the short notice, we
hope our clients appreciate this problem was out of our control caused
by Cisco software, and we are working as best we can to resolve it
    quickly.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, please do not
hesitate to contact us if you have any queries or questions regarding
    this maintenance window.

    Regards,

Hi and welcome to the forum. This maintenance was completed by the datacenter, it took longer than expected. It was not done by us on our end but at the datacenter we use itself. It also affected our own website and many others who use the same datacenter. If you have any further connection issues please contact support for assistance.

This seems to be a regular case. I have signed up with them 2 months ago and in the last two months, I have faced major outages over 6 times. Outages are very frequent and sometimes it last only for a few minutes to a little under an hour, but mostly they have lasted for almost a day.

The reason I am posting this here is because I am facing an outage again today and it has been over 8 hours that I am unable to access my server. I have raised a ticket 6 hours ago, sent them a reminder and again raised another ticket on a higher priority mentioning the earlier ticket, you know why I raised so many tickets and reminders? Because I have not received any response from them.

And this is not the first time. Last time I had an outage, that was on 28th Sept 2011, it was the same story. I never got a reply until the next day. Then they ask me to run some settings and update them. They took a few hours to get it sorted and asked me if I could connect now. I was able to connect to the server but the connection was very unstable and during those few hours that they had been communicating, there were 7 times that I could not connect to my server.

And you wanna know what they had to reply to that? Here it is, mentioned in quotes:

    "Hello,

We are aware of this and are working on resolving the issue as quickly as possible. Please accept our apologies for the delay.

    ---
    Thank you
    Maurice S.
    Swvps.com "

Guess what, its over two weeks and this problem still persists.

I agree when someone in this thread is mentioning that as an FX trader, you cannot afford outages on your VPS, especially during the weekdays, AND ESPECIALLY FOR HOURS TOGETHER.

SWVPS does not have a phone number on their site that you can reach. Yes, it is true, chat service says they are online, but it does not work actually. It just sends out an email to them.

Honestly, do not signup with SWVPS, it is ok to spend a few dollars more every month on a VPS service which is more stable then use a VPS with them. You would end up losing more money on trades that you could not execute on time, then save by using SWVPS.

No replies to tickets for nearly a week even with a critical status! These guys are just a scam, probably the worst hosting company in the world. Tried because it was cheap and don't like at all...
please don't do what i did host somewhere else..
