Hey all, looking for some feedback.
I have a cPanel reseller account with a major host, and my email forwarding stopped working. I donât know when it stopped, it might have been weeks ago, but nobodyâs complained.
Hereâs an example of a recent set-up. I set up a domain with a single mail account. It is set to bounce all mail not addressed to this account. This single account is set to forward all mail to a Gmail account, but the forwarding isn't happening. I know itâs getting to the mail server as it finds itâs way into the right folder in cPanelâs webmail. But it doesnât seem to forward past that.
My host is adamant that itâs not their issue. They have logs that prove the mails forwarded. They say Google is probably blocking the forwarded messages. I guess this is possible, but Iâve also tested on a POP3 account and a webmail account on a different domain. Forwarding doesnât seem to work anywhere.
Any suggestions?

Hi gregX59,
Maybe try setting up another Email address under the same domain, then try forwarding to this new address. If that doesn’t work then go back to the host…as it must be an internal issue.
All the best.

There is a way to know if the problem is Gmail. Instead of forwarding you messages to gmail, you can get your email from your gmail account (Get mail from other accounts).
If it works, the problem is not gmail

Yawp - good suggestion, I was setting up a new mail account to test if maybe it was that individual account. Then I got freeflyer's response.
Freeflyer - good input. It worked to access the cpanel mail account using Gmail. Forwarding still does not work, but I can continue my setup.
So, is there a reason, or even a way, that forwarding could have been disabled? I'm more than a little ticked that my host's support wouldn't even bother to test my issue.

I am glad it helped. There are many reasons that prevent forwarding to work. I would suggest first verifying your target address, your MX records, your smtp server performance, your hourly send mail limits, etc.
You can also disable the bouncing of all mail not addressed to your account and set up a filter to forward all the email addressed to your account, to your gmail account instead.

We’ve been told of similar instances with respect to catch-all accounts by customers making enquires, but haven’t experienced the problem ourselves (we don’t use cPanel). Try the test to see if it’s internal or external and then, if it’s internal, your host will have to provide support.
All the best.

Solved.
Don't know why or how it suddenly started working, but I guess that doesn't matter. I'm glad to be able to complete this set-up.
Thanks all, you got me thinking in different directions.
