Why is it always the other parties fault when it comes to cogent?
Cogent may be cheap but there is a reason for that, and many times they take great advantage of agreements.

How big of a issue is this for the people on this board and how long do you think it will last?

We are fully multi-homed, so even if we have Cogent, we would not have been impacted.

Sprint cutting cogent off? It MUST be Sprint that's the bad guy, not the cheap level bandwidth provider that's constantly oversold and overused. Yeah, tha's the ticket!
More than likely this was done because cogent was flooding up the pipes and Sprint just needed to get rid of them. There's no way Sprint would just casually "drop" cogent, they're too smart for that.
Of course, we'll never know anything more than what's published about this, so chances of people seeing the full truth are pretty slim.

There is some general slowness people are seeing due to some congestion in certain markets as well.

I just read (I think in the Cogent press release) that they were in litigation and Sprint decided to prematurely drop them in lieu of waiting for a decision. Go figure...

Cogent is like that troll in Lord Of The Rings that is falling in the ravine, just grabbing on to anything it can, it knows it's gonna die but still wanna try and f**k things up before.

Yeah and that's not going to be a one sided press release at all.

Sprint is so bone-headed. It's like they are trying to tank their company one division at a time.

why be so cruel?
a lot of companies depend on Cogent's bandwidth.
For multihomed ones, unless you are paying less for somebody elses traffic - that means mre expenses.
And, but the way Sprint is not that far pricing wise compare to Cogent. Just couple of dollars.

They're already offering free 100mbit to any Sprint customer that wants it for the time being.
