Help identify this processor.

Here's the info from /proc/cpuinfo:
Code:
processor : 0
vendor_id : GenuineIntel
cpu family : 15
model : 4
model name : Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.20GHz
stepping : 1
cpu MHz : 3192.104
cache size : 1024 KB
physical id : 0
siblings : 2
core id : 0
cpu cores : 1
fpu : yes
fpu_exception : yes
cpuid level : 5
wp : yes
flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm syscall nx lm constant_tsc pni monitor ds_cpl cid cx16 xtpr
bogomips : 6388.37
clflush size : 64
cache_alignment : 128
address sizes : 36 bits physical, 48 bits virtual
power management:
I'm trying to roughly match it to one of the procs on this list: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
My suspicion is that it's one of the old Xeon's near the bottom in the ~1000 range.
Best Regards,
Jerret

Without a doubt it's a pre-Conroe (aka C2D) Xeon and because it supports hyper threading (HT in the flags) it's probably a Prescott core...and btw I'm sorry in advance. your CPU is not on that chart.

Thank you sir! I'm not at all surprised and it simply makes the decision to move to another provider that much easier.
Regards,
Jerret

Question: Were the old Prescott core's 64 bit? Here's the output from uname -a:
Linux <hostname> 2.6.18-92.el5 #1 SMP Tue Apr 29 13:16:15 EDT 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

It's been a few years but I believe 64-bit extensions were added back on the Northwood core which predate Prescott by 12 or so months.

Correction, it's an Irwindale CPU which is in a nutshell the 2nd coming of the Prescott. Irwindale is the Xeon version of the Prescott and included 64-bit extensions. I had said the Northwood CPUs had 64-bit extensions in error. While your CPU could actually have a "Cedar Mill" core, the only major difference is that Cedar Mill was made on a 65nm process and Irwindale was made on a 90nm process (more heat, more power consumption).
Either way, the architecture of the NetBurst CPUs was pretty crap-tastic and is why AMD gained such a competitive edge until Conroe/Penryn (and soon Nehalem, bye bye final Opteron advantage) came out and has mopped the floor with AMDs remains.
