May I know whats the average space and bandwidth used by each client for shared hosting? Thanks.
What kind of budget should we meet to start a new hosting company?

It really matters on what the client has on their website. If it's a forum, a company website, or a personal one. It's pretty hard to estimate what an average client will use. For start-up cost, it might be around $500 or less just for the founding of your company and at least a few hundred dollars to get a reseller plan and billing software like WHMCS. For a reseller package I recommend starting off with InnoHosting.

I know InnoHosting is good. But I'm going for a dedicated server.
Erm, what is the amount of space & bandwidth mostly used by users??
Example:
Client A - 2GB Space
Client B - 2 GB Space
Client C - 4 GB Space
Client D - 3 GB Space
Client E - 2 GB Space
Client F - 5 GB Space
Client G - 1 GB Space
Client H - 2 GB Space
Client I - 500 MB Space
Client J - 2 GB Space
Client K - 1 GB Space
Client L - 2 GB Space
In that case, 2 GB is the most frequent..

Most of our users ususally don't go over their bandwidth and disk space. From the local businesses I host, I learned an average business site takes less than a gigabyte of space. But, some our higher mattering on how big they are. As far as bandwidth that is unpredicatable. Unless you are asking for a specific type of client. Example: A Blog, user A gets thousands of hits on his blog while user B only gets a few hundred. As far as a dedicated server, I would get managed so you can focus more on your business than the server. Others might tell you this, but it's not smart to start a hosting business with a dedicated server. People usually start with a reseller plan then grow out of that. My 2 cents.

It depends entirely on the client. From experience, most never use anything near their allotted bandwidth and disk space, and that's even without the insane overselling of some hosts. I find that the real limits in shared hosting these days are CPU and RAM, since bandwidth and space are such cheap commodities compared to the power.
We've only ever had one client go over their bandwidth limit, they were hosting files (which is not against the TOS), but they simply had some very popular files. Except for that, all clients remain well within (as in, below 50% used) their limits.

I see. Cause I'm thinking of how much clients could overseller throw into a server, as I'm searching for hosts, which I could tell obviously they are overselling..
Going with a reseller plan isn't part of my plan. Since I'm planning to sell shared, reseller, VPS and dedicated servers.

You should be able to find a decent host with good price for what you stated above..

Thanks for your information. I didn't realise clients used so little of space.. I had a small forum, which used less than 20mb of space. Maybe that may happen too..
