Which is best shared hosting?

As you know, many HP like dreamhost, bluehost, ipowerweb, hostgator, 5site, brinkster, netfirms.
So, i wonder that is there a rank try to sort these HP order by speed, support, and all over.
I had been used dreamhost and thinking they are the best shared hosting.
I'm also looking for a ranking in shared hosting but dont know where to find, can you tell me?
Thank you so much

That is the right answer. Best host is that host which is best for you. I don't think there is no meaning in any ranking in general. There will be ranking for sure but..

Out of the list you provided I would say the best are HostGator and NetFirms. Most of the others are major oversellers. HostGator oversells but they provide a quality service. It's really up to you.

All the best,

As I just explained in my last post (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...90#post5352290) there really isn't a best hosting company for everybody. Your asking such a general question, your going to get a bunch of different answers. I suppose what your really doing is starting a poll and counting the company who has the most votes.

Let me tell you right now, if dreamhost works for you, if there are no major issues, don't even think about moving to another company because it often turns out to be a nightmare for most people.

Really your asking an answerless question. So I'm afraid I won't be able to answer your question for you..just my 2 cents.

My question is, if dreamhost is doing good why move just to try and find a better host? I mean all the hosts you listed above provide roughly the same thing for the same price, so why try and find the BEST one? You will end up having to switch your site over many times(which is such a pain) and not only that you could easily end up in a worse situation.

If it aint broke, then dont fix it.

I recommend that you don't go with a hosting company that doesn't oversell because they are going to be in business between 5-60 days.

All hosts oversell, it is a very common misconception that overselling is bad which is just not true. Just search 'overselling' in WHT and you will find a gazillion discussion posts on this very topic.

All hosts oversell
While I appreciate the humor of the first statement , I can't totally agree with the second. There are hosts that do not to oversell (disk and data transfer that is) and some that even "undersell" them. With good reason too, given their target markets.

Yes, i think so. All susscessful hosts oversell. But over my list, i said dreamhost is the best with me, just becoz i like the way they give addons domain. If i add other domain, it will have other account and donot added to a subfolder in my root. So, when sharing for friends, i wont have to worry about they will see my file. And i also dont like their website to be a part (subfolder) of my site. I dont use any other host accept dreamhost, so, anyone can tell me that has anyhosting provider had the same thing like dreamhost ( addons domain in a special account, not a subaccount like in Cpanel)

A bit of serious ‘overselling’ of the overselling going on here…

Hi vhcgroup,

There are many honest and reliable hosting companies ready to provided customers with the web hosting package you pay for. Take a look at the offers section of WHT, and you may be able to find additional information on some of the web hosting directories.

If your happy with your current host, then that’s the main thing. I agree that you should stick with what you know isn’t giving any trouble.

All the best.

Thanks Yawp.
I think if anyone use dreamhost will know. They are good, and also i like addons domain in their host like i said in pre mes. But i will also try to using other HP. Dont ask me to tell you why. I think you will see when you use them. It's tech prob, and it's my mistake, arent them.
Just ask which Hp can bring me Cpanel Host like dreamhost (addons domain in special folder not subfolder like cpanel)

A lot of the rankings you will find will be based on which hosts pay the biggest commission to the ranking creator, so be wary.

I have to respectfully disagree, not ALL hosts oversell

Seriously, though, there is a nice market for underselling these days.
