Need custom Semi-Dedicated/VPS hosting for a website
Hello,
I need a small customised budget plan for Semi-Dedicated / VPS hosting.
Space is approximately 1 gb & BW 30 GB
All semidedicated plans I saw offer 5 Gb space + 100 Gb bandwidth.
But I dont need that much.
Is there a site which offers customised plans for Semi-dedicated & VPS hosting

At those specs, wouldn't a standard shared plan work for you? What kind of CPU/Memory are you expecting to use?

In general, only when user needs more than the existing plan, the host company will provide the customised plan, for example, need more space and bandwidth than the existing hosting plan. But now you need to reduce the space and bandwidth, I have not seen this custom plan, so I think you can buy a vps hosting together with other people.

Semi-dedicated is usually simply shared hosting with fewer users per server. Hence the reason why the host can afford to allocate more than the 30GB you're after. It is also the reason why the price is higher. The cheaper the semi-dedicated is, the closer it is to shared hosting.
While I understand you being disillusioned with shared hosting, I trust it has more to do with the actual providers you've had the bad luck to work with than what shared hosting is capable of. I don't see a 64MB VPS as a replacement for decent shared hosting.

Exactly... You will obviously be having very good performance if you are on a decent shared hosting server than a 64MB VPS.

Like both of the users said above, a 64MB VPS would be terrible. Especially if you add a control panel, if you can even add one. cPanel definitely can't fit on that, regardless of whether it's the full cPanel or VPS optimized, neither could fit on that.

I have been to shared hosting that costs $15 too.
It's the same story.
So wanted more accessibility in a small VPS / Semi-Dedicated plan.
So are there no companies that might offer this

Doesn't windows use like 72 Megs of ram to boot up anyways? I heard that, not sure if thats true though... don't know about linux though.
I bet there are plenty of companies that are willing to make a custom plan.

If you want to get better performance, you need at least 256 MB VPS. There are several VPS offers you can find on the VPS forum.

Why exactly don't you want a shared account? take in consideration that as far of accessibility a semi-dedicated is the same (a semi dedicated is usually a bigger shared account on a server with less accounts)

I highly disagree. A 256mb VPS' performance will very likely pale in comparison to any well-managed shared hosting.

I have used shared hosting for two years, I would now go on to VPS/Semi-dedicated. As for why, The amount of clientels has grown rapidly. For better protection of the records & my data I would like to now shift to very small VPS/semi-dedicated plan for a reasonable budget price.

As stated a semi-dedicated plan is just a shared account on a server with a very low population (and a limit on the population, generally).
If you want to go with a VPS and you want to use cPanel you will likely want at *LEAST* 256mb if not 512mb and either of these setups will likely be a few steps below the average shared server and quite a leap below the average semi-dedicated account.
The positive side would be root access to the system but the downside would be that you will likely have to maintain the system security and keep the system up to date. If you want a managed VPS it will cost more money and you will likely still have to keep everything updated and secure overall.
If you have no experience managing a server you would likely be best to stick with shared hosting. You state that you want a smaller plan than is generally offered but yet you say you want to move from shared due to a growing clientele. I'm not putting your decision down as you can obviously go semi-dedicated/VPS if that is what you want and since we don't know what your site deals with it's hard to make a real decision based upon the content and we can only guide you based upon what you tell us.
I don't know of many providers that will give you a smaller account on a semi-dedicated server just due to the fact that the reason you get so much is because it is there and available for use.
I do wish you the best of luck in your search.
