Dale Mathieson
I just came here to tell everyone my story of Dale Mathieson and his web designs.
I contact Dale on MSN about web designs the last week of August and we finally agreed on a design and I paid a $125 deposit up front on August 31, 2008. He began to show me progress. After a chunk of the first one was completed, I had him begin to work on another because I did not like the first one whatsoever.
He was discussing it with me every couple days until mid September, when he disappeared. I filed a PayPal claim on the 19th of September after I had not seen him online for several days. He replied on the dispute with this:
Quote:
I gave you a preview within 1 week, you didn't like it - which is here: http://kloov.com/forsale/hosting%20template/
I then started on the other template, located here: http://kloov.com/Bergen when he said "I don't have enough money to pay you until October". When someone says that, I usually pause things off, as "insufficient funds" really makes things oddly done as it suggest you're going to take ages with payment.
If you hold on a day or two, I'd be able to complete the second template.
Either way, the first half was a deposit ensuring that I don't waste my time, which was clearly stated to you and seeing as I've already done a template for you and it just wasn't loving you, I said I'd make you another; still - Valuable time lost.
|
I emailed him promptly after that to see what his excuse was for all of this, and he emails me this:
Quote:
Hey Douglas,
Sorry about this, this usually NEVER happens, I’ve just been caught up in a lot of things lately and I’ve barely been on the computer.
I’m not really sure if I can finish it, as I’m pretty busy now with exams that make up my life in a few weeks.
Also, I barely check this e-mail; I should have told you this earlier but I forgot and I’ve just not been on msn for a long time. If you’re needing to get me on urgent contact, contact me on dale.mathieson@gmail.com, I check them about every 6 hours on that.
If you’re wanting me to continue, I shall do so but once again; I’m sorry for what has happened here.

Great, he was starting to own up to his mistakes, right? Wrong! He's disappeared once again since then, and I have not talked or gotten any correspondence. I'm extremely frustrated about this. I asked him for a refund as well on the 19th, and received this:

If you want, I can send you the other template I did for you, the main page is basically complete and you’d be able to sell it.
|
That template wouldn't get me $20 anyway. That's the last time I heard from him and he hasn't replied to anything I've sent him since.
Avoid Dale Mathieson for your webdesigns at all costs.

And like we agreed and you agreed, the first half was a deposit, of the first template that I had basically done for you then you decided you didn't like it.
Even then, you give me 3 days to respond to your request of a refund when I clearly said I've not been at the computer as much as I've been studying.

It was seven days which is more than sufficient since you said even so you check your email every few hours.
If you're so immersed in your studies, refund me and move on.. especially since the main page was 1/3 of what you agreed to show me for my $125.

If you're not able to finish the project, you should refund him.

Just an update... Dale did email me on October 2.
Quote:
Once I get the $125, the Issue refund button will be clicked, waiting on someone that moved house to pay for the skin I designed him but he moved house last week.

Thanks,
Dale Mathieson

Likely story, there's always something holding it up.
I haven't heard from him since. I also opened a PayPal dispute and received this:
Quote:
Dear Douglas Haber,
After careful review, we have concluded our investigation of the Buyer
Complaint described below.
We have decided in your favor, however, we were unable to recover any funds from the seller's account. As stated in the PayPal User Agreement, recovery of funds associated with a Buyer Complaint cannot be guaranteed.

Remember everyone, always pay with a credit card for these sorts of things so you can get your money back if needed.

I wish PayPal had some sort of insurance thing, so that you could pay a monthly fee and if you ever got scammed out of money, you could get it back. Or if someone bought something from you and did a chargeback for no reason, you wouldn't lose the money.
Sorry to hear about that

usually when it comes to intangible goods paypal will never rule in your favor, so if they looked into it and decided to give Doug the refund; you know that the seller is way off base. I think it's time to pay it back and to be honest that "template" looks like something that could be put together off of a 2.0 web generator that you can search for on google.
