    bye bye apache 2.0 :(

"Extremely low uptake of Apache 2 has caused its producers to advocate freez-ing development of the open-source Web server until makers of add-in software catch up. "

    Not really.

The problem is that people like those of the PHP project were trying to make an Apache2 module. But everytime they start working, the API change. So everything has to be done again.

It is not about stopping the maintainence or anything.

It is more like a guarantee from the Apache 2 developers that the API will remain unchanged for a while, so that the modules maintainers will feel more safe to port their modules to the current API.

Freezes are a very usual thing in any popular project.

    It's nothing bad

ohh... a bit bad news but let's see and just wait

I don't see it as bad news really. Without all the add on's working, it's not really worth using and there are a lot of add ons that have been really slacking and this is the only way it'll ever be worth much and I prefer to not deal with all the problems otherwise. They'll still fix bugs and security issues that might arise, but it was annoying trying to develop for 2.x and to try and build any add on's that are mentioned. This is why I'm still using the newest 1.3.x version.

Definately good news, they kept changing the module API that much that you were lucky to ever have anything common like PHP working.
