In need of a review
I am in the process of redesigning my hobby site (taking way to much of my time) and need some input.
Please keep in mind none of the links work yet, I want to make sure I don't have to back-track if and when I need to make changes.
Compared to the current:
Honestly, I like the current design better. The new one is more cluttered and it's not clear what you're supposed to "focus" on. The location of the poll is a bit.. bad. Can't you try to put it in one of the sidebars?
I think I agree with Nadav, I like the old design better. I suggest you go with a CMS/Portal program since the site has that look already. I would recommend Myphpnuke.com or postnuke.com.
Nadav, I understand what you're saying that it's cluttered. My content has grown 3x the current. (ie, new listings, visitors request for more features etc).
that is why is went to a text menu, little easier to add/expand.
I'm short on ideas to unclutter the page, as all the provided info are to please my visitors (per their request).
I will consider all ideas!
The new design looks better but I would suggest reducing the header/logo, it's taking too much space.
New one looks better but it requires more eyes lol.
I like the original better as well(colors, logo and otherwise) Why don't you just try to tweak that menu and layout?
I agree with Beast. I also like the original one better. v1 and v2 both are having dark colors and hurts my eyes.
I would say, the design part is good, but the color scheme is bad. If you take some light colors, it will uplift your site.
I prefer the old design. The new design seems to busy and was hard to look at. If you do go with the new design I would change the header/logo it is ver distracting.
I like the new design much better. Much more professional.
I have already started to make some changes. I got rid of the 3rd column (main body area) and made some rearrangments to give me more space and not be so busy.
I also got rid of that remotely hosted ( ) poll and installed a php poll.
