What low cost European VPS provider should I use

I'm looking for a cheap VPS in Europe.

My site won't have too much traffic, at least in the beginning. That's why I'm looking for a low cost VPS provider. It's not that I can't afford a more expensive service, but I don't like spending more, if I don't need to.

One of my options is CheapVPS, but 128MB is perhaps too low? Since I don't have any experience with VPS solutions, it's a bit difficult to estimate how much I need. The price of the next level is high enough so that other alternatives starts to look better.

How much memory is left on a VPS with a standard web server + database?

What are you planning to run, and which control panel are you planning to use?
If you are looking for a managed server, go for a2b2.com. It is part of the same company as CheapVPS.
If you are new to the VPS scene, definetly go for a2b2's managed services.
They offer locations both in the US and the UK
I cannot personally back up my recommendation for a2b2, as i have not been hosted with them. However, im sure there are plenty here who have, and would highly recommend them

Depends on what your planning to run. I believe CheapVPS uses HyperVM. If you use HostInABox along with HyperVM you only need about 40mb of RAM to start with. How dynamic is your site?

The site can be compared with a web shop in functionality. There will be some dynamic pages, such as search and reordering lists etc. But I will also cache the entry pages for each category.

If you don't have any experience why of all hosts are you considering them their vps are unmanaged. Their parent company ab2b only offers basic management so my advice would be spend the money and start looking at a fully managed vps, and one who will let you upgrade if and when you need to.

I have experience setting up a few regular servers, it's just that memory was never a problem with those. I'm choosing a VPS mostly to learn, since the project is only someting I will do besides other work. If I do something wrong, and the server fails, It's no big deal.
