Got this email from automated cPanel

MPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
The hostname (server.mydomain.com) resolves to . It should resolve to xx.xx.xxx.xx. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.

Some are all of these problems can be caused by
/etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly. Please check this file if you
believe everything else is correct.

You may be able to
automaticly correct this problem by using the ' Add an A entry for your
hostname ' under ' Dns Functions ' in your Web Host Manager

Can someone suggest how to correct this?

I did what it says under you may be able to.

Thanks

Chris

You must have an A Record the resolves back to your server name...

i.e;

snuffy.sesamestreet.com A 111.111.111.112

So what ever your hostname of the server is has to have an A record pointing back to that IP address.

Yes you can use PuTTY to login to the server and you can edit the specific file(/etc/hosts) and add the line in it.

X.x.x.x hostname.srv.com server

You will need to use an editor such as nano so the command to edit the file would be:

nano /etc/hosts
