jaguarpc

Has any one been with jaguarpc for VPS?

I have and I found them to be slow and unreliable.

Well when I joined them I had 1 pay extra for cpanel and my site took 52 seconds to load my currant host takes 12 seconds, also there always doing work on there servers. that makes me think have they got to many clients and servers then they can handle.

Ask them to move hardware nodes. I have heard that some users have done that before and it helps. They try not to "overload" any piece of hardware, but all it takes is someone on your machine to go crazy an then you get screwed.

Overall though, I have never heard a major valid complaint from the people that I personally know that use them.

I haven't had any issues with one of my VPS accounts with them. I am guessing that maybe the hosting specs did match between the two hosting accounts.

Is your server in Houston or Dallas? If Houston, Houston got hit by Hurricane Ike. Power to their datacenter was switched to backup diesel gensets. Normal power has now been restored though.

But, possibly some of their bandwidth providers have been having storm related issues as well.

Since you didn't loose connectivity completely, if you are in the Houston dc, I would rank them as high on the preparedness list for emergencies. How well are other datacenters prepared?

I am located at Gnax in Georgia and I thought all VPS clients were located at the same location.

Hum? Maybe, I don't know. I only thought they were in Houston and Dallas. But, you are right, I just saw they have a DC in Atlanta as well.

We do have a data center in Houston, However it is near full capacity. So we stick most of our stuff into Atlanta. With colo scarce in Houston we are seeking alternative options besides the l3 facility they charge two arms and 5 legs for.

I agree with the original poster. Our mileage with JaguarPC varies.

We took one site (cpanel) and took another one. The web rankings went down and we weren't able to interpret why. SEO worked on it and nailed the problem. The google sitemap was showing that the site was being unresponsive. I wrote to them many times that the one site took 13seconds to load while the same site with the same content on their another node took 3 seconds to load. However, they told that they have fixed the issue and to let them know if it continues. It did. Trust me, I think its a common answer. One account on the node is taking lot of usage and hence yours were affected. Give me a break, the guaranteed CPU cycles should be there.

The other major major problem with them is their billing. The paypal payment will never get accounted (they have acknowledged that) and you will have to write to them informing that you have already paid and guys, they do not take care of the billing in the night. So we were struck with them our main site down for one entire night. Thats was no easy night. Downtime is unacceptable if you are running a business where you take lot of responsibility.

Next weekend - we complain, get the site up and moved to liquidweb. They were little expensive but pricing was never our concern. We want reliability and we got all we wanted. Seriously, I like them. Guess what, the server isn't canceled still. By mistake, we paid the invoice of the canceled box for the second one (someone promised that they have consolidated the accounts into one or maybe we were mistaken) and guess what, the second box is down for almost two days now. This is not our primary site. After numerous emails, I thought its easier to call. They are online for sales and not for support.

I wrote back asking for # and ext or asking them to call me and someone gives me a number. I called them taking their number and extension (Chris), no one answers. I left him a voicemail and even sent an email to call us to sort out the issue. What do you expect, no call!

Trust me guys, we deal with lot of small businesses and everyone has problems but the way someone resolves it defines a business. I am not complaining about these problems. We are used to them and never ever complain because we do lot of problems ourselves and we are in midst of addressing these sort of problems. Everyone does - we are not HPs, Gs but come on, you should know hwo to act on problems.

Overall rating - very unhappy with their hosting (load time, down time), billing and their policies. It may be just a coincidence. It better be as I want everyone to succeed.

Email me directly please with the problem or what you sent to Chris and I will make sure it gets taken care of first thing this morning.

We are certainly sorry to lose a customer and that your experience was less than desirable.

To explain the cancellation, the only mention of canceling was to the ticket we had open with you to troubleshoot the paypal issue. We acknowledged that it was an issue for some accounts, however we receive hundreds of paypal payments a day without an issue and we are baffled why yours (and a few others) don't get acknowledged. In that ticket you mentioned you'd be canceling at the end of the billing cycle and we responded to that. That was the last we heard. If there was any type of formal cancellation (we require you fill out or cancel form) we did not receive it.
