I have maxxed out my limited brain power

I have a site that I offer mostly free valuable information.
There are a handfull of items that I do charge for (Little Paypal buy it now buttons). For some years this has been a nice little money maker. I spend about $500 a month on google adwords, In return I get a check once a month for about the same amount from Google adsense (so that's kind of a wash).
So, I have a few questions??
I have been thinking of jacking the $500 I spend on adwords to more, double it??, triple it, Just see what happens?
If it's a wash at $500 will it be a wash at $1000 ??
Maybe I should quit the adwords for a month just to see what happens?
My other problem is that the info I charge for is getting less valuable because more and more sites are pretty much giving this similar info away for free?
I have noticed a sales decline in the past year.
I would love to find a way to make all my information free and not deal with selling these items at all.
So, explain to me how a site can make money without really selling anything.
I have tried donation buttons but people are tightwads.
I know there must be a way to make money just from traffic huh?

What information is it that you are offering?

You could add services related to the information, and promote them from within the information you are offering.

For example, if you offer information about creating websites, how about making a host which is entirely promoted within the information guides? Or resell for another host?

Unless 100% of your traffic is from adwords, then doubling or tripling your advertising budget will not double or triple your traffic (and thus would not double or triple your revenues, either).
