Need help picking new host
Hello all;
I am in need of some help finding a good web host for my domains. I have been with a company for over 4 years now and I just think it's time to split from there, too many times down and no one ever answers the phone, so its time to go.
I dont have alot of domains, call it 19, and they are all mine. I currently have a reseller account with all domains hosted under that. I use hsphere control panel. I currently pay $45 a month.
#1. Uptime is priority. If its 99.9% thats exactly what I expect. I cant deal with going down a couple times a week, and then have zero customer support.
#2. Speed, i cant deal with it taking minutes to load pages
#3. I would prefer a data center thats NOT in florida.
I dont have any objection to using cpanel or some other control panel, im just used to hsphere.
60% of my sites run mysql db's.
I dont host any large files
Im not sure if i need a reseller account, since i own all the domains hosted and dont plan on selling hosting.
So if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to let me know. Thanks for your time.

I would say go with shared, if you don't plan to sell hosting.
And if your domains don't need their own control panel.
Those two abilities are all you're paying extra for with a reseller plan.
It's not a VPS or Dedicated Server.
I have a shared account with HostGator,
They meet all 3 of your requirements.
I am up to around 1500 MB of disk space,
And, monthly, using around 32 GB of bandwidth.
All is still up and speedy.
I do have a few reservations.
As do others, which you can see from a search.
But, I don't plan to move

Hello DanielJay
A shared account should be enough usually, however, if you are going to use cpanel, take in consideration that it does handle the additional domains in a different way than Hsphere, if you want to keep separated control panel (in hsphere or cpanel, that's not different) you'll need a reseller account

I do want to keep the control panels for each domain seperate. I guess Im looking at reseller hosting then.
I am partial to hsphere beacuse thats what ive used for so long but I dont have any objection using a different one.

I agree with these guys. A shared account should be good enough for what your doing. If you sites grow more popular you should move to a VPS than later on to a Dedicated server. Don't know who you can go with for that specific control panel. CPanel and Plask are standard on every host really. Good Luck!
All the best,

If you want to do that, you'll be better off sticking with a reseller plan.

|
Most hosts will admit to having 99.9% Uptime, Though no host is immune to some sort of dowtime.

I would suggest choosing a smaller and decent webhost, You're bound to get good support and decent server speeds. Do a little research before proceeding to purchase.

Before continuing to purchase a plan, Check with the Host to see where their
Data Center is located or even use Domain Tools to do a search on their domain to get a rough idea where they are located.

Your best bet would to run through a Shared Hosting Account in which using cPanel you could add the extra domains onto that one account, Though if you wanted separate panels for each Domain then yes you would need a reseller account but not necessarily use the SELL option.
Then from you're control panel you can add your e-mails to each account and so on so forth.
I would suggest cPanel as I am more used to it, Though not sure what current hosts run with Hsphere. Hopefully someone can enlighten on which hosts do

Is there any specific reason why you need separate cpanel accounts for each of your domains?

No, He said he would not object to using cPanel or any other Panel, Though Hsphere is the only panel he is used to using.

How does it work with a shared account that can host multiple domains? Does anyone have an account like this?
i.e. you pay say $30 a month for ONE account, and it says you can have unlimited domains under that account. Are they parked or are they active and can be accessed by the web?
lol im confused now.

They are add-on domains, when they are added to an account a "folder_name" is created within "public_html" for you to upload your files to.
Once done, the domain you add can be seen through its address and not your main domain account!

I have an account like that
Well,
It probably be closer to $10/mo for one account.
They are not parked, they are called add-on domains
Each add-on domain will behave like a main one.
You simply point the add-on domain to the folder you want it to pull its content from.
This is in reference to cPanel X,
I am not using HSphere...

has anyone been with inmotion hosting? I heard they're good but again few ppl complained that even though they offer a huge bandwidth, they start crying once your traffic reaches a substantial amount. They keep warning customer to upgrade or they'll cancel the account and they apparently did for couple of ppl..
anyone has similar experience with them? I am also looking for a cheap hosting provider for hosting my preliminary forum...any suggestion will be really helpful..
