Need hosting suggestions

I'm designing a site for someone at the moment and want to recommend some hosts to them.

it's a zencart site and i think i'll need about 25mb of space. Not sure about bandwidth but i'd say it is still quite a small shopping site at the moment. PHP is needed and i'd prefer uk based but prob doesn't matter too much.

She's hoping to pay less than £50 a year if possible.

I've been using the cheapest package on Clook myself which i like but if anyone knows of any similar priced or cheaper hosts so i can present a few options to her that would be good.

She is hoping to have a few more sites in the future so multiple site hosting would be good. I think Clook only allow 2 sites for the cheapest package so this might not be enough. i think add-on sites would be ok but don't know enough about this yet.

Any comments would be great!

Is it an e-commerce site? Innohosting colo's in a data center in the UK, in Maidenhead, London. Take a look at their plans at http://www.innohosting.com/shared.htm Good Luck!

All the best,

5quidhost.co.uk - haven't used them yet but found them responsive and credible when making enquiries a few days ago and have them on my shortly for budget UK based hosting.

Do you plan to accept credit cards on your own site? If yes, then you are looking at the costs for dedicated IP & SSL too. Since you are looking at budget plans, just wanted to remind you about inevitable potential costs. Good luck with your search.

Thanks for the responses

It is an e-commerce site
I will be using paypal for payments so don't need to worry about SSL

There are quite a few hosts that will meet these needs. Just remember to allow some room for expansion. And that you useually get what you pay for.

Sounds like most shared plans would suite you but since its a shopping cart, a host using good kit will allow you to grow more than a real budget host.

Also make sure there is a easy upgrade path with the host you choose as its easier to move from shared>vps>dedicated with one host than to have to find a new one and move each time.

I'm actually finding it quite tricky to find a reasonable host that would allow at least 3 add-on domains for under £50 a year.

Could anyone suggest some places that do this?

Obviously if i just search on google i could find some but i've had some bad experiences with hosting so would like one that comes recommended.

Thanks.

I think you'll have trouble at that price. If it's for an online shop you want reliability and that is worth paying for.

Does she need a full website or just online shop? You could try specialist shop hosting or an eBay shop.

She wants a full website. I've already designed it on my hosting account so now need to transfer it across.

I've been looking at 5quidhost.co.uk who look pretty good but i'm guessing she'll need more than 2gb bandwidth so would need the £5 a month plan which isn't too bad.
