How Much My server Would Be Worth?- Hardware 2X XEON 3.2GHz

Well I Got an pretty cool server on my hands, in exchange for portal developing since I need some cash wanted to sell it, it's about 1month used IBM BLADE HS20 Server.
Here is Specs:
2X Intel Xeon 3,2GHz Processors ( Yes 2 processors like that)
2 x 36,4GB Ultra320 SCSI + 750GB SATA HDD
4 GB DDRII SDRAM - ECC Chipkill

Anyway Here I found the same server selling:
http://www.compsource.com/ttechnote....vid=201&src=12
Just with different HDD's (mine have better ones )

So If I would want to sell How much I could get for it, since it's a bit used? And where you Suggest to sell server like this?
Maybe someone from here interested to buy for cheap price?

This is better suited in colocation forum.

Anyways, $6k for that old crap seems very expensive.

I brought a server twice as powerful, 3 times are many drives for around $400/mo from ebay.

Unless I am really missing something......

its most likely the older model xeon with 533mhz FSB which is pratically useless now a days. Lets put it this way if you even get 1k off of it consider yourself lucky.

ok 800mhz, not much leverage with core2duos killing it with 1066mhz or 1333mhz for way cheaper on the market. I am not saying you can't sell it, but a server like that would not fetch more than 1k due to its oldness

you must be nuts to be honest. The lowest you would be able to get for this, you're comparing yourself to established and reputable companies, in the coporate world servers are different than home PCs if there is a problem the supplier takes care of it. Post a 3800$ offer here and on ebay and see if you get any bites, if not adjust and do it again thats the best way to approach this.

actually there is a big difference. If you buy from suppliers then you would know. obviously someone has never worked in the corporate environment. anyways let me put it in another way: no company will be buying from you they would rather buy from established places with support. Your target audience would be those who are looking for a cheap server to colocate somewhere. Like I said prove me wrong and sell it for 3.8K, i don't think anyone is going to bite.

I seriously doubt you'd get that much. Those two SCSI drivers are worth $250 tops. I don't think you'll get over $700 max if you include everything and I don't even know if you could still get it off of your hands.

You'll also need to compete with the guy on eBay selling almost the exact same one (just without the SATA HDD, one less SCSI, and half the RAM) for $460.

Tom I think your missing the point that if this was bought from Dell or IBM etc it comes with a warranty and usually a guarantee on spares arriving or engineers.

You can't offer that so I would take the $3.8k and halve it as your likely only going to be able to sell it to consumers or perhaps some smb's.

Ebay would be worth a shot with a decent reserve.

Edit: just seen the one on ebay, stick it one for $300 with a reserve and see how it goes.

obviously 299tom you're confused and I am just trying to help. from the three different people posting on here the general vote is you won't get more than 1k for that server. you just don't seem to get it as we try to explain this to you

Its only worth what someone else is willing to pay.

Your best bet is to advertise it on eBay and see what it brings in. Unfortunately I think you will be disappointed though if you are expecting anything near $3800

Those seem like the old dual cpu xeon procesors so i don't think it is worth that much.

As far as i see it has a 266 mhz ram and as far as i know ddr2 starts at 533.

It is an old server and you could get more umph from even a core 2 Duo E2200 cpu.

Consider yourself lucky if you get a few hundred $ (you could get a new server as performant as that one very cheaply)

PS: Used 1 month? Better said 1 month and how many years?

PPS: Add a pic
