Dedicated IPs with a reseller account
hello again,
When you get a reseller plan, does each website that you host get its own dedicated IP address, or do they all share the same one.
I know I would need to have dedicated IPs, at least for my own websites.
I tried to find the info on a few companies offering reseller plans and there was no information on this.
thanks again,
PS - I wish I would have found this forum a long time ago - its awesome.

A lot of reseller plans will give you one or two free Dedicated IP addresses.
I don't know anyone that gives you a separate IP for all your websites.

dedicated IP doesn't matter & you don't need it unless you need to setup a ssl.

It is my understanding that dedicated IP vs shared IP affects your SEO ranking quite a bit. I for one have a pretty good google page ranking right now for my site and would not want it lowered for any reason.
Secondly, say I do become a reseller, if one of the sites I am hosting gets reported for spam, then it is my understanding that all the sites who share that IP stand to get blacklisted. That would not reflect well on my "quality" as a reseller.

A good provider will have action before the ip is blacklisted.
It's common to use shared ip for websites on a server.

I don't think you would be able to get unlimmited dedicated IP's with a reseller account. Why not just get them when you really need it.

That is a popular SEO myth. It would be folly for a search engine to give a boost to dedicated IP hosted sites when shared IP hosting is so prevalent. A dedicated IP doesn't make a site better in any way.

While a valid concern, the dedicated IP will be used for web hosting purposes, not email purposes. You'll still be sharing the mail server IP with the other sites.

Actually, what we do is if a customer has a dedicated IP, the mail server will use the customer IP to send the emails. This the reduces the chances of the main shared IP becoming blacklisted, and those with a dedicated IP benefit from having an isolated IP for mail sending as well hosting use.

Pretty nice. Then he should get confirmation that's the way things are done at the host of his choosing.

Actually, that's a myth as has been said, take a look to the Matt Cutts blog http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/myth-b...-ip-addresses/
