I have a quick question relating to the ROI of advertising on the domains value. E.G. I own business.net ($40,000 value) and spent $450,000 on advertising. How much ROI would you receive on the value of the domain name?

That's far too vague a question to answer. Simply put, the value of a domain doesn't really change inherently imo. What does happen is $450,000 of advertising is the value added to the inherent value. You can't really categorize it as domain value. As far as how much you make a site worth when investing, varies from reducing its value to infinity, depends on what you did and how effective it was. Sorry there is no real answer or equation you can just pour money into and add x value.
