WebHostingTalk is seeking qualified applicants to act as Community Guides.
Community Guides primarily help guide discussions and keep them on topic without the need for moderator intervention. They are not moderators, but they report problems when they see them. Future Liaisons will be chosen from the Guide group. However, not all Guides will or want to become Liaisons.
To be a Community Guide, you need to be an example to the community with your contributions, helpfulness, and attitudes. You're active in the community, you work well as part of a team, and you stay within the forum guidelines.
Interested applicants should open a ticket at the help desk directed to the MODAPP department. Only applications submitted to the MODAPP department will be considered.
Please include your WHT user name, a description of yourself and why you would like to be Guide.
These are non-paying, volunteer positions.
Requirements: - Be familiar with WHT rules.
- Be an example to the community with your contributions and interactions with other members
- Work well as part of a team
- Have a non-biased attitude
Applications will be accepted through September 14. We will begin contacting members after September 21.
You're welcome to post any questions here. But only applications submitted to the proper help desk department will be considered.
Thank you for helping make WebHostingTalk a better place for all.

If I promise to stop getting in trouble, think I can maybe be a "guide"? I have 1775 posts.

Past infractions shouldn't dissuade anyone from applying.

That's cool. I have a laundry list of them now (7+ pages ). I guess I'm gonna read the rules again.

Just curious, are new mods trained at all? I have modded for other forums before but are we informed of the general guidelines moderators follow? (when to take action, etc.)

New moderators are trained and given the information they need to effectively moderate WHT. Just a reminder, however, that Guides are not moderators:

Even as a "guide", it be cool to know what the general consensus is in terms of how WHT deals with different situations.

Right, I understand. One of the cool benefits of being a guide is that you have a direct line of communication to the moderating and administration staff. Guides are encouraged to ask us questions and learn the ropes of the forum.

Yeah, but I would say becoming a guide is a step towards being a moderator

I second the option for MikeDVB. He has been nothing but helpful to everyone on wht and off. That generous behavior deserves rewarding.

It's more of a privilege than a reward in my opinion.
Always enjoyed helping others and seeing people working together solving problems in the forums.
Great idea SoftWareRevue. Long time no see.
Cheers.
