I own a forum and I was wondering what should I be using to host this.
I don't use much space or bandwidth but I do get allot of page views a month. Lets say I get around 1.5 million (giving room to grow) page views a month of all .php pages. 10GB bandwidth and 1GB storage would be more then enough.
I was DDoSed and my current host kicked me off since it crashed the server. So DDoS protection would be a must.

I assume that not all 1.5 Million Viewers would be on the site at the same time, 1GB Storage is fair and 10GB is relatively good for 1.5 Million Views.
Are you sure it is around 10GB?
If so then a Shared Host would be reasonable as you are not using that much in the way of Space and Bandwidth, Though take CPU into consideration.
Though in your other thread you also stated your account was suspended due to DDos attacks, I am wondering if the hits of 1.5 were legitimate or from the DDos?
Others may reply with some more helpful advice.

I don't think he normally gets 1.5million, he is saying that in the future he might get that many...
My suggestion would be not to go with a host that oversells, and with your space requirements it should be easy to find one. Look at the shared hosting offers on this forum, most of them should be great for you.

1.5 million page views a month, then 50000 page views a day.
Then I suggest you do not use overselling host, your bandwidth and space's demand is relatively low, should be easy to find, but you best give the budget.
But I must remind you:
When you find your satisfaction hosting provider, you should search for their related post in the Forum and read others opinions, then decide.
Good luck!

Hello Leway21,
As others have stated your requests are quite common and most quality shared-host should be able to give you a good hosting experience.
About the DDOS, is this because of the nature of your forum ? Because when it is you must make sure that the provider who is going to host you is allowing the content you place. You better ask the host you choose to go with if the content you are having is allowed on their host.
Wishing you all the best in finding a good host for your forum.

It's a gaming forum, the DDoS came from a cheat engine forum users that hack in my server. We recently added a autoban system that they are not to fond of.
Currently I use around 7-10% of my 30GB transfer on my current host. I get a little less then 1 million a month at the moment with around 30-50k page views a day.
I wish I could edit my topic to fix some typos.

leway21,
Dont think you will have much problems at another host; as long they have some kind of DDoS protection in place. But i would ask the host you choose for advise on the subject so you don't end up with the same issue you have now.

I would think that a Shared Plan would be the most applicable to you. Maybe some where down the line an upgrade to a Semi-Dedicated Plan would help a bit more especially on the load.
You are only using at max 10% of your 30 GB Allocated and the Space as you say is 1GB, more than enough.
I have seen plenty of Gaming forums and all have pretty much grown rapidly. What a world we live in.
As 040 and others mentioned I would not go with an overseller but a Host that does not oversell their server, I could recommend MDDHosting.com as a Hosting Provider. I have been with them 3 months with great speeds and 0% downtime. And yes I would recommend that you go with a host that has some protection, Though not all hosts are immune to such attacks from the wild.
Though Best of Luck Champ.
