Vacation DB Problem

We've got the problem the autoresponder stops working
for some but not all users on the RaQ4.

Quote:
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
"|/usr/local/sbin/vacation.pl /var/vacation/phe04.msg phe04@www.xxxxx.xx"
(reason: 13)
(expanded from: <phe04@xxxxxxxx.xx>)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
Cannot open vacation database: Permission denied
554 5.3.0 "|/usr/local/sbin/vacation.pl /var/vacation/phe04.msg phe04@www.xxxx.xx"... unknown mailer error 13
Any ideas what's the real problem (why: permission denied?)
or how to recover those users without recreation of the user account?

Thanks for your assistance!

finally i found the solution myself:

all .db files of users which had corrupted autoresponders where owned by <username>.users instead of mail.mail

a simple "chown mail.mail *.db" and everything is okay again.

however one question remains: how did the file owner change from mail.mail to <username>.users?

Similar problem but all my .db are owned by mail mail.

I get this line on the log every time y send mail to the user

Aug 25 10:59:53 magicwebserver sendmail[20397]: i7PExMA20338: to="|/usr/local/sbin/vacation.pl /var/vacation/info.msg his_mail", ctladdr=<his_mail> (8/0), delay=00:00:31, xdelay=00:00:01, mailer=prog, pri=121793, dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent

Any idea why this user is not responding

I recently update sendmail and add mailscanner, is possible to be blocking the respond?
Thanks
PS

Hmmm...

I don't have any files with the .db extension. I have three files for each user: one with no extension, one with a .forward and another with a .msg.

The .msg is owned by user.mail and the others are root.root.

Actually some users do have a .db files and those work fine. I have to manually create the .db files for those who do not have them in order for their vacation message to work. Any ideas on this?
