i want to buy a firewall,

i find the price range of those on ebay are large,

i want to ask when i want to choose one,

which part i need to take care?

and do you recommend which one or which brand?

You can find really good firewall's cisco asa's for as low as $300 or so. Depends on your level of expertise and what you really need it to do. You could just take an old standard pc , put 2 nic cards in it and then install a free setup like m0n0wall.

What do you need it to do? Throughput, concurrent connections, VPN tunnels, deep inspection, UTM?

Different vendors have different management interfaces and features as well.
