That seems to be the major complaint, that it's too crowded.

Cool Argh! My eyes!!!

Grabs sunglasses and looks again

Yeah, it's a little crowded. And those grey lines in the background played with the eyes a little, though I like what you're trying to do with them. Maybe... well, that'd be harder. If you made the area the lines enclosed a slighly different color than the background. Maybe each section a slight tint to the white (maybe #ddffff, etc...)

Unfortunately, though I'm saying its busy, I don't have to suggestion on how to remedy the situation either.

That's the problem. There is so much content, and I want all of the major sections/channels on the main page with a description and links to popular pages inside them. I think everyone can agree that it's crowded, but can anyone do anything about it?

Lightbulb What to do about it.

Just a few little things you can do to make that page less crowded and still leave it the way it is (for the most part). Color variation. There's a whole lot of grey there and some more color to different sections could make it easier for the eyes to focus on one spot.

Another suggestion would be some small graphical icons in different sections. The more divided you can keep it, the more focused visitors can be.

I agree with most of the suggestions and comments here but I dont think there can ever be "too much content" you just need to make it easier to navigate, separate the content from the banners/ads with color and strategic placment.

I will try those 2 ideas, can anyone think of anything else I can do to make that page less crowded?

I've played around with the design with your suggestions, and it just doesn't fit. Can anyone come up with a good suggestion to make http://www.yeswebmaster.com less crowded.

Thank you all.

Some redundency (4 links to your hosting section). Also the small font size may be attractive from a designer standpoint but, it can really be difficult for some users. A friend of mine has an eye condition and finds it difficult if not impossible to see small screen font sizes. I think that using a small font size also may tempt to place more on the page and give you that crowded appearance.

I'm confused. Is this a portal site, or a hosting provider's page??

Seperate the inforamtion into categories. If a customer is interested in what you have to offer, they will stay around to surf the site.

With everything here, it's too hard to find content... I'd go somewhere else to find what i am looking for.

Hosting providor? What gives you that idea? I think it's obvious it's a webmasters portal, the content is catagoriezed into Channels and Sections.
