can anyone help me out here.. which motherboard supports for 1U casing..can state the model and if possible how much.. either for p3 or p4 pls oso state.. seems so hard to find one that is value for $$.. don't even know which 1 support
Actually, most 1u cases support standard and full sized ATX boards. If your looking to buy a 1u case they should note the max size of the mother board. I use Tyan S200's for my dual p3's and ASUS TUSI-M's for the p3 single boards. The main thing to be careful with is the back planes on the 1u cases.... not all are interchangable and may not support the port layout on the back of the motherboard... espically on a lot of the p4 boards.. they had to go and change everything around..
I don't build any p4 1u's so I can't give you a recommendation there.
I don't remember the details or source but I remember reading that the mechanical fit is just the first hurdle; that some boards are happier in a 1U. I believe that circulation and thus heat was the biggest problem discussed.
Originally posted by apollo my vote also goes to Tyan (check out also Asus P4S333VM)....
have u used the p4s333 boards? we've tried out several lately and everyone we use shows errors on hard drives... doesn't matter what brand of size of hard drive. if you have one, run dmesg |less and let me know.
