I'm looking to get some good web hosting control panel software.. I'm running windows 2000 server, looked around and everything I see is for windows server 2003 or 2008.. I'm also using apache.. Not looking to host alot of sites, just mine and some friends.. Just looking for some decent and free..

For windows, i don`t think you`ll find something interesting for free... helm panel has trial version for 1 or 2 months, you can check them... if i were you, i`ll learn administration in iis etc, to do simple administration work... i think its not something difficult to learn.

Not so sure about free, but demo-low cost is out there

I know that Helm has a demo version that allows up to 5 accounts for free, and if you are willing to pay, DotNetPanel I have used and can recommend.

There seems only few control panel in Windows, I would recommend you change the OS to Linux.
Anyway, the control panel that bmfan recommend sound nice, you can have a try.

Zpanel is a good control panel if you heavily mod it to eliminate some of the coding errors it has. The project has now been re-launched under a new name 'RapidCP' although it has been in development for nearly a year now and they have released a number of release dates but have cancelled them.

Does plesk still offer 1 Domain Plesk Panels? I know OP needs to host a few more, but still curious to know..plus he might want to try that and maybe spend a few $s if he's convinced...

I would just use the built in Windows 2000 Administration(IIS, DNS Admin, etc)

To make things easier, you can check out other email programs for windows, and find one that has a nice admin panel for it as well.

Unlike Linux, where configuring email and DNS is fairly daunting, windows is extremely easy to do. Also, if you use active directory, I believe it makes it even easier.

But you will need a control panel if you are offering hosting to end users (so they can configure on their own the emails, dns, ftp, iis settings etc.).
