What does "Reseller Hosting" mean?

Hi,

Does it mean to sell other web hosting plans through a cpanel provided by them? Or it is a type of web hosting such as shared and dedicated plans?

If it means selling other services, do you have to manage your new customers, or they are managed by original web host?

Who is eligible to be reseller?

Thanks

Reseller Hosting means you buy a reseller account, which allows you to create other shared accounts.

Your usually given resources like space and bandwidth and you create your plans and then you go about selling them.

Your responsible to look after your customers although some companys offer end user support which means they will deal with support issues for your customers under your company name.

This is most commonly offered with cPanel/WHM.

Then there are reseller programs, where you're basically a salesman (with a site) selling ready-made packages. Some examples of that would be Godaddy's and Resellerspanel's programs.

You resell someone elses server resources. There's reseller and master reseller. Reseller just means you can make other shared accounts, master reseller means you can make other resellers like yourself.

--------------------------------------------|--- Client [Shared]
HostingCompany > You [Reseller] -|---- Client [Shared]
--------------------------------------------|---------------------------------------|--Client [Shared]
--------------------------------------------|-----Client [Master Reseller] --- |--Client [Shared]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|---Clent [Master Reseller] (If you gave them master reseller rights)

then it continues like that. (that's the best I can do )

Or you don't even have to resell to others but set up accounts for every domain name that you have. I have around 50 sites with only 5 accounts for other people. I've heard of people having 300+ personal domains and a reseller account would probably what they would use. So paying around $10-$20 a month for a reseller account and easily hosting 100+ domains is very cost effective.

It's indeed very cost effective.
Reseller hosting gives you extra tools to manage hosting accounts, which is much better than a shared account with addon domains.
