Are you using whois to check domain availability? Why not use a registrar's domain availability chcek? That's most accurate if you're looking to see if a domain's available....

Probably because of the alleged front running thing.

Bit off-topic, but did you get ICANN's email regarding that no-refunds-within-10%-deletions thing? Can you help clarify if that's effective immediately?

I have seen no evidence of front-running, outside of a few claims made here and there. It's doubtful any legit registrar would engage in such shady behaviour (GoDaddy excluded of course lol).

Yes, we did. At this point the GNSO recommendations have been adopted and ICANN are formulating policies. So, at this instant in time, the front-running/domain-tasting issue has a theoretical solution, but formal policies and adoption/implementation by registrars are not in place yet.
