Unhappy

Hi from scammed newcomer...

I just launched my new site last week, now my host (webhostingpad, may they be cursed forever) seems to have gone out of business. No site, no phones, not responses. I'm out $80 bucks and I have no idea how to reclaim my domain or go on from here. Any advice?

Sorry to hear of your loss. I've moved this thread to the Web Hosting Forum so people can recommend some good new hosts for you to consider. Best of luck!

Such a shame that these web hosts give us all a bad name. It really does annoy me!

I would recommend going to your bank and informing them of the situation.

Kind Regards

Hey sorry to hear that. This is not an uncommon thing to happen with some businesses. I would definitely recommend taking a look at the offers section and then finding a few hosts that suit your needs. After that do a search on this board for them and I am sure you will come up with some personal experiences and reviews of the hosting company. Let us know if you have any questions.

Sorry to hear that, if you look at these forums it seems to happen almost every day, luckily that is not true and you will see people complain faster as that they write good things about their hosting company.

Reclaiming your domain might be possible if it is on your name, but it would help a lot if your previous hosting company would be prepared to help.

Next thing would be looking for a hosting company, even though your site is down now, do not rush into things, and make sure you check your possibilities, it would be sad if you ended up like this a 2nd time.

Wish you all the best in finding a great hosting company, as others said, you could take a look into the offer section of this board, but be aware, do check up on the company before you sign up.

I have to agree with everyone here. It sucks when things like that happen but I think at one point in time we have been there. Was YEARS ago for me. WHT is a great place with LOTS of helpful people. I think I have learned more from this forum then anywhere. Good luck on your search for a new host. Just remember don't jump into anything too fast do your research and ask any question you have no matter how little it may be.

How did you paid them?
Also, you can make a whois of your domain to see where it was registered, maybe if you contact to the actual registrar you can get your domain back.

How was the domain registered? Do you have any sort of backup of the data?

From their site:

Quote:
Disk Space UNLIMITED*
Monthly Bandwidth UNLIMITED*
Unfortunately, I'm not surprised.

Good luck finding a new host - and remember, "Unlimited" HAS to be limited somehow.

Perhaps they had a small outage or something, and the Threadstarter jumped into the conclusion that they went out of bussines.

Which i can't really blame people if you look at the number of hosts that dissapear overnight.

Webhostingpad is owned by Omnis so unless they went out of business whp wouldn't. Omnis is one of the oldest players in the Industry if not the biggest.
