Dear all,
Searching for an ssh hosting I found Pandela.com. I found no reviews/comments in the forums. Does anyone knows anything about them? My choices are Pandela, Hawk Host and (any recommendation?)
Thank you,
Peter

Hi Peter,
here is a quote from a Client:
Quote:
Pandela advertised a free basic hosting to try their service and hosting. I figured I would give it a try as I wanted to make a mockup of the website before going live with it. I setup a small basic perl script for classified ads and was working on the html pages and style. I haven't even put any ads up online or started with the site live. It was up for about a week and Pandela closed the site down. Their reason for closing it, was that it was using too much bandwidth from their servers and they said that I could switch to their paid hosting.
I had also lost all my "weeks" work as I couldn't recover it from the server. This FREE hosting offer they have is a typical bait and switch scam. What a total waste of time using Pandela. I guess it just shows that nothing is for free and free offers wind up costing more.

Though on a Good Note:

They are so nice to talk too, and they take time and listen to me. I'm a noob to the website hosting field and they have helped me allot.

By SSH Hosting, do you mean Web Hosting that allows SSH or are you actually looking for a Shell Account?

Actually SSH access, to a full working shell.
Generally, I need:
At least 2GB disk space for my files (php, html, images, etc)
At least 1 parked domain,
At least 20 subdomains,
SSL/TLS enabled mail,
At least 25 email accounts,
Mysql 5, PHP 5
mod_deflate/gzip in Apache,
Apache 2.x
Query cache enabled in mysql,
Optionally, SSL connections to Mysql are a plus.

I'm not sure, but you might want to make sure they offer regular SSH and not just JailedSSH, unless JailedSSH is ok for what you need.
I know that often times it's listed as "SSH Access" but doesn't specify if it's Jailed or not.

Most of the host provide jailshell access. But very few only allow direct shell access to the accounts.

Is there any way to determine the shell type? My current host provides me with ssh access but I do not know if it's jailshell or not. And I cannot contact him. He is disappeared!
