Problem with 1and1 hosting

I want people to be able to view the web directories in my site and I get this error when trying on 1and1.com hosting. How do I get 1and1 to change the permissions.

Error 403 - Forbidden

You tried to access a document for which you don't have privileges.

sorry no, thats not the problem, I can not view the directories on the whole site, not just a specific directory, its proximotech.net you can check it out yourself. To do that I would have to chmod the entire site.

Try contacting 1and1 support to see if they provide anything worthwhile help (as well as posting this thread, if you havn't done so already).

If memory serves me correctly 1&1 have a fairly good online knowledge base you can ref. to, I'd try that first, then contact them, if you still have problems.

To enable directory listings, add this to your .htaccess file (create the file if it's not already there):
Code:
Options +Indexes
Probably not a good idea if you're planning to run Zen Cart tho.

It looks like the 403 error is gone.

What funny here is the original poster needed to come here for support. Most likely this is a result of not receiving the proper support in the first place. Am I right?

I used 1&1 years ago just as I was getting into websites and such, the support was always there, just took quite a while to get.
