Question on Dedicated Back Up

I am new to this whole dedicated server idea and was wondering if I get a dedicated server, is there a way or software program where I can back up my server to a hard drive at my house? OR is better to just pay the monthly fee and get a second hard drive installed and back it up on their server?

A second hard drive is a good solution but it shouldn't be your only backup as something can happen to your server physically and affect both drives. You could use rsync or backup by FTP ... but if you have the budget, a very good solution is to rent a R1Soft backup server in another datacenter.

it will depend on your budget, but it is best that you have secondary drive and an rsync offsite backup of at least an offsite backup. You can also just use rsync/ftp to your server at home....

You'd be better off leasing some space on bqinternet. It could end up either cheaper (if you're not using a lot of space) or more expensive, but either way, having off-site backups on an independent network with an independent company from your primary provider are worth it.

I highly recommend R1soft backup solutions that provide sector-level backups. They are much faster and less resource intensive than RSyncing backups.

Just my two cents :-)
