    CNAME redirection to a URL?

    Hello,

Just a quick question, can i setup a cname to redirect user to a URL instead of domain.... like

    Code:
    mail.thedomain.com.	in	cname	mail.google.com/a/thedomain.com
I have to do this on Windows server with IIS so i can't use mod_rewrite etc!

    Thanks.

This is not possible with the CNAME. In IIS you can install rewrite module isapi. See details here.

You can use IIS Mod-Rewrite Pro (micronovae.com/ModRewrite/ModRewrite.html). Works like mod_rewrite.

Something like this would probably work fine:

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mail\.(.+)$
    RewriteRule .* http: //mail.google.com/a/%1 [R,L]

I used isapirewrite in the past: it works.
