What is your favorite board game?
What is your favorite board game?
I am not asking about strategy games, such as chess, Stratego, Battleships etc. I'm interested to know about games in which you move your piece on a track (around or on a given path) after rolling a dice, performing tasks along the way, collecting "money" or points etc.
Let's hear some rare ones too, if that's your game. Links to games and rules etc. are appreciated.

Settlers of Catan is my favorite, but since that is kind of a strategy game, I will vote for Cranium.

Thanks for posting Ludo! There are at least 3 different such flavors that I know of.
Has anyone heard of a board game called something along the lines of "Seeking Oil"? You'd go around the board, placing your oil drills, tanks and refineries in 4 designated areas, earning money from other players.

Well, if you throw out strategy games, I'd have to go with something like Talisman, although I haven't played that in a good 10 years or so.

So would risk count? it involves rolling a dice or five. Out of the ones you listed I think I would have to go with the Game of Life.

Ack, guess I didn't read the initial post correctly either, then I'd have to say Monopoly, or Parcheesi

I'm surprised no one mentioned diplomacy... we've been playing it at work to team build between departments.

My vote was other: I enjoyed playing a game called Axis & Allies. I believe it was a Milton Bradley branded game. Though I do enjoy Monopoly, I can't remember the last time a full game was actually completed!
