    ukeasily down

ukeasily have been down for at least the past 3 hours.

Anyone know what's up with them?

I'm hoping it's a DC outage rather than anything more serious, but if so, any info on that?

UKeasily: Network down and no support!

I'm really hoping someone here can help me.

3.30pm (GMT) yesterday ukeasily's network went down (I'm assuming it's their network as ukeasily.co.uk is down too). 14 Hours later, after many calls (all of which rang out to an answerphone) and several left messages I've received absolutely no support or had any contact with a UKeasily rep.

Does anyone have anyway of contact this company or have a support telephone number that they actually support on?

This is now starting to get really important and any help would be great.

    Regards,
    W.>

someone we know has been trying to contact them for 15hrs without response on their emergency mobile number. we are placing them on a holding server for now so at least they can get back up and running, we will reclaim their data if the nodes return...

lets hope you didn`t pay them annually.

a week ago one of their sister companies lost some servers also that have not returned

have to say though it doesn`t look hopeful..

Tell me about it. That's what I get for trying to save a few bob. Tried them on the mobile too.
On the phone now to my credit card to find out if I can claim back (i've only been with them for about 2 months).

My problem now is that one of the main websites hosted is a forum that receives between 4 and 5 thousand posts a day. So I know that we've lost a good 5 - 8 hours worth of posts from the last off site backup.
It's a tough call as to whether or not I cut my losses and find another company that has ready to go servers and try and get up and running by lunchtime or wait and see if I can get a more up-to-date backup.

....fuming, shudda seen this coming when it took them almost 4 weeks to hand over the server.

the client that contacted us has several servers with them, bad thing is also that they cannot get to their backup data

Does anyone know ukeasily's upstream provider? I have three reseller accounts with them, which includes three news sites, and I need to access the data to at least propagate the sites out.

My backups are a month old, so that's a lot of potential data loss.

This is a bad situation when a hosting companies customers are offline for this long.

This is a network problem right. So the servers are all there idling away while we have no access; which to means 1 of 2 things.
1.) They knew that they were going to be disconnected (due to none payment of bills or whatever).
    or
2.) This is a genuine network problem that seems to be steming from ukgrid.net (which is where the trail ends / timeouts when I trace the route).

At least the data is in tact (fat lot of good that is at the mo. but good to know).

I'm guessing that ukgrid.net is their provider as it is based from the same location.

Eitherway that is no excuse for not replying to answerphone messages explaining the problem.

    UK Grid

    Dear All,

The issue with UK Easily being down is not a technical issue, the network feed we supply then was disconnected yesterday. I do appreciate there are a lot of customers that use UK Easily that need access to their data. I am going to bring up the port for the next 3 hours so you can retrieve your data.

I would like to stress that UK Grid does not own the Data Centre that UK Easily hosts in, we merely provide them with IP transit from one of our own facilities in Greenheys.

    Many thanks
    Paddy

    Thanks Paddy

    Thanks Paddy,

I must start by saying that I am the non-techie part of Soweb. My problem is that I have paid for a very large advertising campaign that hits this weekend. So whilst my request may seem rather unusual, is may be a simple short term solution to me and a lot of frustrated people: In my lay terms, if I was to personally pay you to keep this "pipe" open for a week rather than a few hours, is that something you could accomodate?
I phoned the number you gave, but was told that there was not a Paddy there. Having said that I was impressed with the proffessional way whoever answered the phone ( female ) dealt with me.

    Regards
    Andy

If the pipe was kept open for you Andy, what would happen if UKEasily moved/disconnected your server at the actual facility? Surely it would be a good idea to run ASAP!

    just got this:-

We suffered some network issues last night from around 6PM GMT, this wiped all our communication systems down & the whole network for us. We apologise if this caused you any inconvenience, it has been stated that some think we closed, this is far from the truth, we are trading as normal & have no plans to close our doors.

If you have any further concerns or questions please do contact us.

    Thank you, Ryan Curtis

Blah, rubbish. Today was a great highlight for me to prove that the experience I had with pre-sales was a good summary of their business... other people have had similar experiences with them too..

    A couple of questions

    Hi All

I had the same message from UKEasily as woostar above. It is distinctly short on information. It does not give a reason for the outage beyond 'network issues'.

I know that the people from UKEasily read this forum so I have a couple of questions for them:

    1. Why did UKGrid disconnect your network feed?
    2. Did you know in advance that they were going to do this?
    3. When did the outage start and end?

I must say that I have been happy with UKEasily up to now - but if you don't keep people fully informed then they are bound to jump to their own unfavourable conclusions.

    Cheers

... And down again. This is a complete and utter joke.

*crosses fingers that PacificRack manage to get the new server online soon*

Grrr what a nightmare this is becoming... I wonder whether its a "NETWORK ISSUE" again or they have been disconnected for good?

    HostingDepartment

I'm hosted at HostingDepartment. I contacted a host called Kent Web Hosting Solutions, and a representative told me about the UKEasily server outage and that its what has been affecting HostingDepartment. The US servers have been down for almost 11 days now, and I need my data. I'm going to try to call UKEasily...but anyone else have suggestions?

This is a disaster, seeing as my last backup is from 8 months ago!

  24. #24
It's sad that it takes a problem like this to make you aware of how important backups are; hope you can get your data back soon.

Do you think they will ever come up again?? I need to get my data!!

Good news I would advise all UKEasily customers to do the same rather than hope that things will turn around - you data is precious!

  31. #31

    How to back up data?

Yeah how'd you contact them by mail? (Do they have an email address?)

    Thanks in advance...

  32. #32
    Try "Support [@] ukgrid.net"

Ive moved both of our servers from UKE as we have felt what we have experienced the last few days has not been good enough!

I am another customer who received that email, they deceived me one more time... and last.

I have been customer of HostingDepartment and now UKEasily, and since they moved datacenter from USA to UK, the whole service has not been good by far.

I am going to email UKGrid right now whishing to have luck to recover a full backup, due to terrible personal problems which finished with my loved Wife passing away on April, i couldnt be able to stay online and in close contact with my server and ukeasily.

I hope UKGrid can help me to get a recent backup to move to another company asap, if not, i can consider myself dead on internet, no feeling to start from scratch.

Thanks to everybody for the information.

    Regards,
    Jose

Now i have a noob problem, this was my first server and i dont really know how to access to my server out of whm.

Please, if anyone knows how to, PM me, i will appreciate it very much.

    Thanks

    Hmm

They havent yet replied to me...and I'm not sure how they're about to help me get my backup. Are they just gonna enable FTP or something?

  37. #37
If you don't know how to backup your server, you should try hiring someone to do it for you, since I doubt UKGrid will be able to sort that stuff out for you.

They only are the bandwith providers, they have not access to the servers, the only thing they can do is to open the port for the IP of your server, nothing inside your server will be accessible via http, and i think neither via ftp. Paddy told me something about make a SSH over the server, but i dont really know what is that and how to do it.

Download a program like Bitvise Tunnelier (http://www.bitvise.com/tunnelier) and enter your IP, root username and password and then use the SFTP feature to download.
