The main mother node on which OpenVZ is running is going out of disk space.
This is on / and there are about 15 vps nodes. Is there any co-relation
between disk space going nil due to disk usage on the vps nodes?

Yes, both spaces (vps and node) are related. If you offer backup-space, this will also be safed on same node.
