Personal Backup Needs - iDrive.com

If you have a need for personal backup space (for backing up your desktop, laptop, etc...), I found a great company to work with - www.idrive.com.

I had been looking for a product that I could not only use to backup my 2 desktops and laptops, but also something I could source out to a few friends and family members. I had thought about setting up something myself, but decided not to reinvent the wheel.

The service is great - the backup software, iDrive Classic, has worked very well on the 10 PC's I've installed it on. The initial backups will take some time (depending on Internet connection) and the nightly differentials are very speedy.

I've had to do restores, both via the client and web front end and have been able to complete them without issue.

So, if you're in need of a backup provider for your desktop or laptop, check out www.idrive.com

I agree - idrive is great.

I used ibackup.com before using idrive (which is from the same company) which offers a few extra features including being able to rsync from linux and also backup multiple PC's to a single account. It's more expensive though - hence the switch to idrive.

Do you feel safe uploading 'sensitive' data on those services? I mean your emails (an email could contain anything), passwords of servers, logins to various systems etc.?

I know these services include various encryption methods, but really - how safe do you feel storing these data elsewhere???

I feel pretty safe using idrive. Data is encrypted on your local PC before being sent to the server so it should be pretty safe.

If you've got sensitive data in your e-mails (which I'm sure we probably all have!) then it's probably been transmitted through various servers in plain text anyway!

I did some due dilligence when I was looking for a provider and am happy with the security and safety features in place with iDrive.

idrive is great. I've used it for my home computer, my laptop, and my husband's laptop. We had to reformat my husband's laptop and I was so thankful that I had decided to use idrive when the time came. Their customer support was great too.
