    1. yes, you can start with a reseller account. When you have customers enough, go to VPS or dedicated server
    2. do not try to get more disk space and bandwidth with lower cost. You get what you pay for, remember that
    3. yes, you can give support to your customers, or ask if your vendor provides end-users support service. It can be additional charge in that case
    4. when looking for a hosting account, which platform are you looking for? Linux? Windows? Do you have any experience with any control panel? Where is your main customers/markets located?

When choosing a host take some time to do a little review. Every host has to start somehwere But yes do search hosts and see what there reputation is.

In most circumstances some members will slander hosts to try and get free service or a bad name to ruin their good run of reputation. It is personal preference really...

I say this a lot it seems, but I would recommend getting a dedicated server if you are going to enter the market of web hosting. Having a reseller account limits you (i.e. on my reseller accounts you cannot oversell). Meaning that you could never compete with the big hosts.

If you are trying to tackle the local market of your town, a reseller account would be just fine starting off. But if you plan on marketing your web hosting company over the web then you will fail simply because people want less money and more for it. (4.95/month unlimited web space/unlimited bandwidth) you simply cannot compete with that on a $20-40$ reseller account.

Buy a dedi and offer the same or cheaper than the big hosts, and market that. But if you just want the local market (in and around your town) get you a reseller account and make face to face visits with the customers you want. Its what I did and I have a reseller account still. But I would never try and compete with word wide hosting companies, as I would not be able to.

While I can agree with BeSeen on most aspects, if your budget is limited, its not a bad decision to start off on a reseller account. However, it is wise you stay away from oversold servers when looking for a reseller account.

This will limit you from building a bad reputation for your company in regards to downtime/server speeds.

I agree with that in some aspects if you are talking about reseller servers. I have not came across any hosting service that oversells Reseller accounts. But if you do see a company that offers you unlimited disk space for a reseller account, run for the hills because something is up.

unless you have million dollars, competing with the big hosts will fail. You might have many customers signing up in short time, but how to support them? You will need to have a big team too, and paying for salary, computers, office etc will kill you soon. We have seen enough small hosts trying to expand in short time, then disappear

It seems that a huge percent of upcoming web hosting companies fail. There is alot of compitition. But, If you have the determination you can do it. I would personally start with a reseller program then move your way into a dedicated, once you have at least enough clients to break even if you buy a dedicated.
