ssh connection problem


if i lost SSH connection during the upgrade process, ie. apache upgrade

will this have any impact?? thanks

It depends. If you want to make sure that you can reconnect to your upgrade session, use screen.

I'll second the screen suggestion, but if you were using EasyApache or even doing a manual ./configure && make, it would generally still continue running even if you lost your SSH session.

From what I have seen, the process continues execution.

You can login via SSH and check if the process is still running,

ps aux | grep [e]asyapache

The upgrade process itself usually shouldn't be affected if you get disconnected, but you might want to make sure that you can read the output, especially if some problems occur. That's why using screen is usually a good idea.

The current processes you are running as make, configure or any upgrade on your current ssh session will brake (cancel) if the connection drops. Best thing to do is use screen to reopen your lost ssh connection as the others have said.
