Movabletype and VPS?

I want to make a blog with Movabletype. I tried some share hosting company and found that some hosting company could not support the optional modules of Movabletype. Should I host Movabletype with VPS? Thanks!

I would check to see if another shared hosting provider can do that for you (make sure you ask them if they support MT). You might, however, be better off in the long run with your own VPS, where you can control just about every aspect of it as you see fit (within your new provider's guidelines, of course).

I agree with Douglas, you should go for at least 512 RAM if you are planning to run cPanel or Plesk.

In my opinion, to start-up a 256RAM vps will do if cpanel, http and mysql are optimized correctly. If you start to swap heavily, then you can just upgrade up to the 512.

Best of luck!

Thanks a lot. I decided to rent a VPS with 512 RAM although I am fresh to VPS. I hope it will be OK to run MT and cPanel. I will come back and share my experience in future.
