    Hiding certain files via FTP

    Hello,

We run cPanel on our server.

I would like to provide a user with FTP access to their site but hide any files with a .PHP extension. In other words, I'd like them to be able to download, edit and then upload the html, css, js files but make sure they can't see, download or edit any PHP scripts.

    Is this possible?

    Chris

The most accurate and shortest answer is... no.

(There is no way to limit file extensions for a specific user, let alone the entire FTP daemon.)

    Hi,

    There's a "deny_file" option in vsftpd.conf.

While you couldn't hide the php files you could use it as a simple way to prevent them being edited?

He's using cPanel, so only ProFTPD or PureFTPD would be an option.
